Emotion Check-in
Daily emotion check-in
One minute a day. Name what you are feeling as precisely as you can, and over time you will start to see your own patterns. No account, no sign-up.
1. Which family does your feeling belong to?
2. Can you be more precise? Choose one or two words.
3. How strong is it?
A littleVery strong
4. What might be behind it? (optional)
Name it to tame it. Research by neuroscientist Matthew Lieberman shows that simply putting a word to a feeling can turn down its intensity. You do not have to fix the feeling. Naming it is already doing something.
A gentle note
Your last few check-ins have been heavy. That is worth paying attention to. Please tell someone you trust how you have been feeling: a parent, a teacher, your school counsellor or a friend’s parent.
You can also talk to someone free, any time: Childline 116 or the SADAG Suicide Crisis Helpline 0800 567 567 (both 24 hours).
My patterns
Your check-ins are saved only in this browser, on this device. Nobody else can see them. Using a shared or school computer? Clear them when you are done.
