What Wayd says
ٱلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ
I’m Waheeda Joosab.
I’m a Durban author and educator. I write about the quiet parts of a woman’s life: marriage, motherhood, faith, and the things we carry without saying.
I hold an Honours degree in Psychology and a PGCE, and I have spent most of my working life in classrooms. What WayD Says began in 2015 as a place to write honestly about postnatal depression. It has grown into a space for Muslim women to think, reflect and find their footing.

Letters from my desk
I often send short letters to my readers. Each one holds a reflection, a story or something I’m thinking through, and readers hear my news before anyone else does. When you join, I’ll send you a short story as a welcome gift.
