Title Reveal for my upcoming book
I am delighted to bring some exciting news to the fans of For My Father. (For those who are new here, For My Father was a blog novel which I sent out weekly from June 2020 to March 2021 as a way of taking myself and my readers out of the pandemic blues.)
I can confirm that the novel has been re-titled, re-visited, re-edited, reviewed, extended, tweaked and polished, AND that the paperback edition will be on its way to your bookshelf this Summer, in sha Allah.
In a project as big as this, it is necessary to celebrate the smallest milestones, and the first true milestone is The Title Reveal. I pondered and prayed long and hard over a new, fresh title and finally settled on words that resonated with me. Like many of you, I had fallen in love with the old (working) title, but I soon realised that it didn’t fit with my overall aim in contributing towards the Muslim fiction genre. As with everything in life, if we are not learning and growing through it, have we even lived it?
This is an exciting time for any author, particularly when it’s their first book. As I go through the publishing process, I am slowly checking items off my list that only seems to be getting longer. After much ado, here are some details of my novel:
Title | Kismet – For roses to bloom, water the thorns |
Genre | Muslim Romance |
Pre-orders | From 26 August 2022, 15:00 (follow me on social media for updates) |
Cover Reveal
The cover, which tells a beautiful story, will be revealed next Friday (26 Aug), at 15:00 GMT+2, in sha Allah. Stay in touch by signing up for notifications, or by signing up to receive my emails.
Inspiration behind the title
It was important for me that the title signify more than just the storyline. I wanted the title to portray the deeper essence of the novel, the profound lessons it teaches, the values it upholds, the spirituality it resonates.
I prayed about it relentlessly and, in as miraculous way as any, I happened upon an Arabic proverb which translates: For the sake of the roses, we water the thorns and I knew it had to be that!
Qadar, kismet, the Will of Allah. Learning to submit to it is a continuous battle between our spirit and our nafs (desires). This is the overall lesson I hope to teach by sharing this novel on the public realm.
Pre-orders open on 26 August 2022 at 15:00 GMT+2. Your continued support of my writing is forever appreciated.
Much love, till next Friday (for the cover reveal, yayy!)
